Please excuse the hiatus

After a long break we’re back online. I can admit that amidst the wedding chaos my time management skills went out the window. As amazing as my wedding was for me, I am so happy it is over! I got married to be married and that is what I was looking forward to more than the wedding. With that said, I will still totally give you an update about how the wedding went!

The wedding was one of the best days of my life. My priority when planning it was to focus on family and creating a loving, intimate atmosphere. I really feel like that translated on the day of the wedding. Everyone was just in such a great space and so connected. One of the reasons I think this was was becasue Michael and I didn’t sweat the small stuff. We set the tone for the day and just decided that it was okay if not everything came together perfectly. We just enjoyed being together and being with our family and friends.

However, my favourite part of the whole day was a moment Michael and I shared during the ceremony. We had just signed the formal papers and were standing at the alter. Everyone was getting back into place and not really focusing on Michael or me, it was just us. He looked at me, with tears in his eyes, and whispered ‘you’re so beautiful’. We just stood there for a moment like no one else was in the room. It was such a significant moment for me, something just Michael and I shared. The reception went off incredibly well too. My soaps were a success and added nicely to the table decor, we heard a lot of great and embarrassing speeches and of course we spent most of the night dancing! I just don’t think I could plan a wedding that didn’t have dancing as a priority.

But after being on one of the most insane emotional roller coasters of my life, I am just so excited that my life has settled back to a somewhat normal routine. And that includes being back online with the blog!2014-09-14WEDDINGAllison&Michael-382014-09-14WEDDINGAllison&Michael-132014-09-14WEDDINGAllison&Michael-932014-09-14WEDDINGAllison&Michael-77

Outfit || Geo Shift Dress

Forever 21 hat, flea market sunnies, Pink Owl dress, shopStylust cuff, gifted clutch, Aldo sandals

Keeping it relatively short and sweet today. I am in love with this dress. It’s fun and bright and I feel dressed up without having to try too hard. It’s been almost deathly hot here lately so deciding what to wear when you really don’t feel like wearing anything at all is a daily battle. I know, it’s a tough life. I figure if that is my biggest daily battle, I’m sitting pretty. And now for a little slightly mandatory light reading.

How to Build a Capsule Wardrobe

I had this idea (vaguely) this past weekend and came across this awesome blog. I found it so inspiring and it reminded me that it’s okay to stick to basics and to stay true to what works for you in your life. It’s also inspired me to take on the challenge of creating a capsule wardrobe for myself.

Family of Two – Darling Magazine

I LOVE Darling Magazine. Every time I read it I’m all like, get out of my head! They have just amazing writers and I can 99% of the time relate to what they are saying.

How to Tell If Someone Really, Really Likes You

When I heard Zooey Deschanel launched Hello Giggles with two of her good friends, I thought, great another Goop-like celebrity blog to add to the pile. However, though I don’t read every post, when I do I never regret it. It’s light, funny, oh-so-honest, and no pretentious word making up happens there. A+.

2014 Summer Bucket List

This summer has definitely  been chaotic so far. I started a new job, applied to grad school, and am preparing for my wedding in September. I thought then that it was important to make a set of goals I want to do before this summer gets away from me!

Given that Vancouver is supposed to have a hot dry summer I want to make camping a summer priority. Having already been once this summer I now have the camping bug and can’t wait to go again.

Beach bonfire

I would love to have a party this summer with a beach bonfire. Living in beautiful Vancouver, why not hang out looking out at the water, next to a bonfire, with great people?

English Bay water slide

English Bay is one of my favourite beaches in Vancouver and I have always wanted to try their water slide. So this year I am going take the time to do it!

Like Lindsey, reading more also makes my summer bucket list. Since I have spent the last million years in university, it has been difficult to make reading for pleasure a priority. But now that I have more time I would love to get back into reading. I have been trying to compile a list of good novels and am excited to get them started.

In Vancouver you can rent kayaks down at Granville Island and kayak around False Creek. It is really fun and a great way to see the city. Michael and I did this last summer and are definitely planning to do it again this summer.
